What we collect, and who else sees it
This site has no accounts, no database, and no advertising. It does have a sign-request form, and that form passes through other companies before it reaches a volunteer. This page says exactly which ones.
What we collect, and why
- Nothing. There is no form on this site, no account to create, and nothing to submit.
- If you email us, we have whatever you put in your email — your address and anything you write in it — because that is how email works.
- If you send us a photograph or a written concern for publication, we hold what you sent and whatever name you asked us to publish it under.
We do not ask for demographic information, political affiliation, or your employer, and there is no reason for you to volunteer any of it.
Service providers
Who processes your information besides us
Volunteers are not the only ones who handle what you send. Each company below processes some part of it in the course of running this site.
Cloudflare
Hosts this website and serves its pages. Handles request data such as IP addresses in the ordinary course of serving and protecting the site.
Google (Gmail)
The volunteers read email in a Gmail inbox. Nothing on this site sends anything there — but if you choose to email us, Google stores your message and everything in it on its servers, under its own privacy policy and its own retention practices. Deleting a message from the inbox does not necessarily delete it from Google straight away.
Google Fonts
Serves the site's typefaces from Google's servers, which receives a request from your browser when a page loads.
OpenStreetMap
Serves the base map tiles on the Maps page, which receives a request from your browser when you view the map.
Who can read it, how long we keep it
Anything you email us is readable by the small group of neighbourhood volunteers who run this site, and by the email provider listed above. You can read this whole site without telling us who you are.
We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful to the matter it concerns, and then delete it. Material you sent us for publication is kept while it is published and for as long as we need to show where it came from.
Ask us to delete anything you sent us at any time and we will, without asking why.
Cookies, analytics, and logs
This site runs no analytics, no advertising trackers, and sets no cookies of its own. The one thing stored in your browser is your light/dark theme preference, which stays on your device. Our host keeps ordinary server logs.
What we will never do
We do not sell personal information, and we do not give it to a political campaign, a candidate, or the applicant.
Tell any of the volunteers — in person, by phone, or in writing. You do not have to put it in writing, you do not have to use a particular form of words, and you do not have to give a reason. Whoever you tell will pass it on. If you would rather not speak to a neighbour about it, email the address below instead and no one else needs to know.
One thing we cannot promise on the spot: our email provider may hold a copy for a period after we delete ours. We will ask them to remove it, and we will tell you when we have.
